Nicole M. Rodarte
Criminal Defense Attorney
Co-Founder of Casper & Rodarte, LLC
While pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Writing and Political Science from the University of Colorado, Rodarte found her true calling into law after reading Caroline Kennedy's In Our Defense, The Bill of Rights in Action, which highlighted cases that had been presented to the US Supreme Court. Of special note to Rodarte was the tireless efforts of passionate attorneys on behalf of these ordinary people. Striking a powerful cord, Rodarte chose a career in criminal defense, wherein she could effectively help those who needed it most.
While attending the University of Colorado School of Law, Rodarte was awarded the Melanie Ruth Vogl Trial Advocacy Scholarship and received the William O. Desouchet Outstanding Trial Advocacy Award. She received her law degree in 1998.
Having served for several years in the prestigious Colorado State Public Defender’s Office, encompassing Denver, Adams and Arapahoe counties, Rodarte believes her experience as a Public Defender – on the front-lines of criminal defense – was invaluable. Like her partner, Rodarte also cultivated winning expertise in the defense of sexual assault cases.
She left the Public Defender's office in 2004 for private practice, and partnered with Dana Casper, forming Casper & Rodarte, LLC in 2007.
Rodarte is an active member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, the Colorado Women's Bar Association, Colorado Hispanic Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Rodarte is a Board Member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar. She also serves on the United States Criminal Justice Act panel and accepts court-appointed cases through the Colorado Alternate Defense Counsel.
